Fall Family Photoshoot Locations in Southern Utah

Fall in Cedar City is my favorite time of the year to capture family photos! Everyone just bought new back-to-school clothes, routines are set, and of course, the seasonal colors are drool-worthy. The hardest part of fall family portraits is picking the perfect location. Throughout Southern Utah and Cedar City, there are a handful of locations that never get old and have jaw-dropping views.

If your family is due for some updated portraits, get in touch here and we can plan your photoshoot now!

Kolob Canyon

This location is absolutely stunning and smaller compared to the larger canyons in Zions or Bryce, which provides a little bit more privacy. It’s perfect if you want to feature the southern Utah red rocks and other nature that Utah has to offer. There is some walking involved, but it’s reletively quick and easy access to most areas. There is a $35 charge per car.

Red Cliffs National Conservation

I love this location, morning or evening! Morning offers a bright blue sky with gorgeous white clouds, while in the evening the sky lights up with hues of orange, pink, and purple. This location offers red rocks, sagebrush, valley views, you can’t go wrong here!

White Rock Amphitheater

If you’re not into the classic red rock throughout the valley, then White Rock Amphitheater is the perfect place for your family photoshoot! About a 1/2 mile walk from the parking lot, I’d recommend walking shoes and water. This location can get very hot, even in the fall due to the lack of shade. This location MUST be booked at least 2 weeks in advance to reserve a photography pass.

Petrified Dunes

This location features stunning views and a huge, wide, open area. We are bound to find the perfect spot at this location. Walking and hiking will be involved to get the perfect shots. Additionally, this location will have to be booked 2 weeks in advance for a photography pass.

Zion Canyon Overlook

Dare I say the best view in all of Southern Utah?! Zion Canyon overlook is best during the evening to get the golden sunset lighting. There is a short walk but the view is so worth it!
